The history of St. Annamal Church in the Northern Konam Parish, part of the Kottar Diocese in Kanyakumari, is a testament to the dedication and unity of its community. Initially, the village lacked a place of worship, but thanks to Mr. Sammanasu, who brought a statue of Sandanatha for the people to venerate, a foundation was laid. The construction of the church was driven by Rev. R. Anthony Muthu, the former parish priest and Bishop of Vellore, with the support of village leaders like Mr. Anthony and Mr. Michael (Meyyal). Over the years, the church became a focal point for both spiritual and social growth, with the community actively participating in its development, including the construction of a new church building. The parish also led successful social campaigns, such as anti-alcohol protests and efforts to improve local infrastructure. As the church celebrates its 50th Golden Jubilee, it reflects on its rich history of collective effort, strong leadership, and a commitment to both faith and social responsibility, with a continued vision for growth and unity.
